The Etruscan Tomb "La Montagnola", restored to Sesto FiorentinoThe monumental site of "La Montagnola" tomb is a precious fnd, a real historical and archaeological heart of the town of Sesto Fiorentino. Rediscovered in 1959, the tomb unveiled the existance of a larger burial site which, year after year, has been coming to light, outlining the contour of a complex Etruscan necropolis at the foot of Monte Morello. Thanks to the cooperation between th Munipality of Sesto Fiorentino, the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage and the Pro Loco Association, which has always been committed to promoting and rediscovering our area, starting from today not only is the "La Montagnola" monumental site thoroughly restored, but is also open to visitors - archaeology lovers, sightseers, students, scholars, citiziens - who want to have a first-hand look at this fascinating imprint of the Etruscan past in our area. Is giving visitors the opportunity to make scheduled or reserved visits to the tomb, with the informed, dedicated and competent assistance of the Pro Loco Association. Neto ParkCreated in 1852 in the city of Calenzano as a garden to complement the Villa Querci as per the wishes of the Marquis de Boyssy, the Parco del Neto forms a rectangle of nearly 7 hectares, preserving within a wetland environment of considerable natural value that once was a part of the larger system of basin swamps throughout the Florentine lowlands. Today it remains noteworthy for the presence of gigantic Taxodium cypress trees originally imported from Virginia. Telephone: 055 8874515
